With only three minutes each, these concise speeches offered a unique opportunity to quickly grasp countries’ positions on climate change. Key Events from the COP29 Presidium
Ministerial Dialogue: Scaling Up Investment for Tripling Renewables and Doubling Energy Efficiency
During this session, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister highlighted plans to increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s installed capacity to 35.5% by 2030. He also emphasized the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Central Asia Green Energy Corridor, which aims to facilitate the flow of renewable energy from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Learn more
COP29 Summit on Methane and Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases
Kazakhstan presented its plans for reducing methane emissions, with Zulfiya Suleimenova, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan and Special Representative for International Environmental Cooperation, announcing that a National Program for Methane Emissions Reduction is expected to be completed by 2025.
