CAN EECCA is a climate action network in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia. Our members are 53 civil society organisations from 11 countries working on climate change. We are part of the largest international Climate Action Network with more than 1500 member organisations worldwide.
Our mission: To support, strengthen and develop civil society organisations in the EECCA region in their ability to influence the development and implementation of climate policies that lead to a climate-neutral and more equitable future. Our network is unregistered and works thanks to our network members.
Employment: 80% (30 hours per week)
Work format: remote or in the office of network members (depends on candidate’s location)
Period: July 2024 – March 2025 (with possibility of contract extension)
We are looking for you if you are:
- A citizen of one of the countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia
- Have more than 2 years of experience with climate policy in the EECCA region
- Have experience in advocacy campaigns
- Want to strengthen the expertise of civil society organisations and activists/s in the EECCA region
- Interested in improving climate policy in EECCA countries and know what mechanisms can be used to achieve this.
- Want to increase the visibility of EECCA countries at the international level
- Able to take responsibility and work effectively online
- Quick and competent in business communication
- Attentive to details, you do not need to proofread documents and tables.
- You know English and Russian at B2-C2 level.
Main tasks of the Advocacy Coordinator:
- Produce an analysis of EECCA’s climate policy, utilising existing developments
- Coordinate communication from the Network to the authorities, assist Network members in this endeavour
- Develop an advocacy campaign and action plan before COP29
- Involve CAN EECCA members in the advocacy campaign
- Organise activities in preparation for COP29 with members and partners, liaise with country delegations.
- Create analyses for the Network
- Advise Network members on advocacy and climate policy issues, responding to their enquiry
Terms of the contract:
CAN EECCA is unincorporated and operates thanks to its members. All candidates must be willing to open a sole proprietorship account and be able to receive payment from a Georgian NGO.
