Following the Issyk-Kul 2026 Climate Dialogue, representatives of civil society, the expert community, and regional NGOs adopted a resolution addressing the accelerated degradation of glaciers and the associated risks to water, food, and energy security in Central Asia. The document consolidates the outcomes of a series of thematic webinars and dialogue sessions focusing on glacier retreat, the role of traditional knowledge held by local communities, and regional climate cooperation.
The resolution sets out a coordinated package of priority actions, ranging from legislative initiatives and ecosystem restoration to strengthening the scientific evidence base, expanding climate finance mechanisms, and enhancing public participation. It is intended to serve as a foundation for a unified regional position ahead of the Global Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25”. It has already been endorsed by several member organizations of Climate Action Network Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (CAN EECCA).
