Climate Action Network Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia (CAN EECCA), in collaboration with BUND and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), is announcing the Climate Dialogues 2024. It is open for Climate Dialogues alumni!

This year, we’re focusing on uniting regional climate activists (CAN EECCA members and external activists) to drive intergenerational action against climate change through impactful media advocacy campaigns. With us you can make your first steps at creating impactful texts and media materials, as well as showcase your experience and engage others into your field of expertise.

What we offer:
• The opportunity to co-author impactful articles on climate-related topics;
• The chance to develop and launch mini advocacy campaigns;
• Participation in exclusive online and offline events, including a workshop in Georgia;
• A platform to enhance your advocacy and media campaigning skills.
What is covered:
• Travel expenses;
• Accommodation for the entire trip;
• Meals for 3 days of trainings;
• Participants will receive a modest honorarium for their accomplished projects.
Eligibility criteria:
• Participant must be a CAN EECCA member, Climate Dialogues alumni or young activist passionate about climate advocacy from EECCA region and nominated by the above mentioned people;
• Participant must be over 18 years old, or apply with a colleague, who is over 18;
• Participant must have a good command of English and their national language, which they would use to reach out to local communities and media;
• Participant must be able to travel to Georgia for offline trainings on 20-22 May, 2024 and dedicate at least 1 hour a week until September 2024 for the follow-up activities.
Suggested Topics for Media campaigns (but not limited):
• The role of civil society in combating climate crisis;
• How to actually make a just transition to renewable energy;
• Unpacking dangerous distractions: nuclear energy, carbon capture and storage, solar geoengineering;
• The role of local communities and decentralization in combating climate change;
• The connection between fossil fuels, air pollution and health;
• How fossil fuels can become a catalyser of social inequalities and conflicts;
• Exploring the intersections of climate change, land exploitation, decolonization and indigenous knowledge.
Please carefully read all of the participation requirements and eligibility criteria. If you are a member of CAN EECCA or a Climate Dialogues alumnus that cannot participate this year, you can recommend a climate activist, who you believe would be an asset to the project. They have to fill out a registration form and indicate you as a referee, including your name and contacts.
