A network of public organizations Climate Action Network of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (CAN EECCA) together with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) will conduct 5 trainings named “Rise4Climate. CAN EECCA Climate Leadership School” for young regional leaders in April-October, 2021.

Climate change is happening now and over time it only gets worse. It is women, children and young people who are most vulnerable to the consequences of climate change. Today, young people around the world are mobilizing, holding actions and protests to adapt and mitigate to climate change. For example, in 2019 a number of climate strikes took place in Ukraine, Georgia and Russia which mobilized over 4,000 young people in the region despite the difficult political context in these countries.

The first training “Start with us! How to develop your climate idea” will take place on April 27-28 at 11.00-14.00 CET online. At the training, participants will learn about the concept of climate justice and the momentum cycle, gain knowledge and skills to develop their own on-topic projects/campaigns/actions.

In total, we are preparing 5 two-day online trainings for you. Here are the tentative topics and dates:

  1. Start with us! How to develop your climate idea (27.04-28.04)
  2. Govern! How to find and engage stakeholders (18.05-19.05)
  3. Give a talk! How to talk about climate change to be heard (15.06-16.06)
  4. Protect your rights! How to keep yourself safe in activism (14.09-15.09)
  5. Be more stable! Finding resources to continue (4.10-5.10)

The trainers of the first training will be:

Inna Datsuk, activist educator, coach, facilitator, has more than 20 years experience in developing people, groups and organizations in the climate movement. Loves people and knows how to cook them (says she has a sense of humor).

Each training will last 2 days, 3 hours online. We will provide the interpretation of the training lectures, and the group work will be held in English or Russian, depending on your preferences.

We want the young regional leaders’ voice to be louder. CAN EECCA Climate Leadership School is a platform to inspire young region’s climate leaders. Collective youth leadership is able to come up with new solutions and actions to mitigate climate change and support social and environmental justice in the region.
